CRITIQUE

I put the filming techniques I learned throughout this quarter into this video, and I am proud of my final product. Something I am proud of is the lively vibe throughout the video. I hope to give people a fun, relaxing feeling when watching this video and the final results came out successful. Since the topic of this video is about food, I color corrected the food to be more appealing and colorful with higher saturation, I also use fade transitions to make the clips look smooth together.

One thing I can improve for my video is to try out more filming angles and movements, as I was rewatching my film during the class critique, I realized that it’s mostly filmed from a medium shot or high-level angle throughout the whole five minutes video. With the repeated framings and movements, it makes this long video dull and ordinary,  there’s no memorable point that would catch the audience's attention. For my future filings, I will try to film the scene a couple of times with different angles, then I will have more options to pick the best expression when I'm in the editing process.

Lastly, what I learned from this project is the importance of time management, it definitely affects the quality of your final product. This time I wasted my first week of production because I decided to change the topic completely halfway. In order to catch up on the lost time, I had to redo everything in a rush, including gathering materials, storyboard, filming, etc. Therefore I was not satisfied with some scenes but couldn't refilm, and ended up with only limited clips for the editing process. I believed the final product could’ve been a lot better if I had good time management.
